It is a cloudy morning in the Low Country. Sunrise is in an hour and I load up my gear to see what might await at Folly Beach. As I get ready to leave the B&B on Spring Street, I spot a puddle at a friend’s house next door. The surface of the puddle provides an urban mirror which reflects the overhead tree, back porch, and adjacent house.
I spend the next 45 minutes playing with the scene, angles, and exposure. The colors are a complex mixture of reflected city glow, streetlights, and window light which combine to form a cobalt blue background.
I never did make it to my intended destination that morning…. a common occurrence! I have come to appreciate losing myself in the moment. For a few minutes, a puddle in a gravel driveway, is my universe of undivided attention. A universe to explore, appreciate and share.
Thanks for your blog, nice to read. Do not stop.
